KVM and extension technologies are used commonly throughout broadcast
infrastructure. Adder Broadcast KVM and Extension devices can be found from
content origination and post production through to control room scenarios.
ADDERLink extension products are designed specifically to carry video and audio
signals in a pure manner without loss of signal quality. Extenders allow you to
relocate noisy machinery, or even share (using KVM) the expensive machinery
found in busy production environments. By relocating PC's and similar equipment,
the machines can be kept in an environment suited to their optimal running
performance, further extending the life of the tools you rely upon.

Adders latest solution that allows multicasting across your network.
The KVM experts will showcase
the new AdderLink Infinity at the International Broadcast Convention, IBC
(Hall 7, Stand B33) on Sept. 11-15 in Amsterdam.
Imagine combining Adder's expertise in spatially lossless video
extension, USB true emulation and crisp audio distribution with all the
advantages of an infinitely configurable and scalable IP network. The result
is a computer media distribution solution the power of which has not been
seen before.
The new AdderLink INFINITY delivers to its users a uniquely flexible
method of working with computers. AdderLink INFINITY allows you to pick and
choose media elements (video, audio and USB) from computers located anywhere
on your network and present them either to a single receiver, or broadcast
them to as many receivers as you wish. You can then hand over control of USB
devices to anyone else on the network at the touch of a button, and
collaborate with the benefit of digital video clarity. Alternately, you can
use the system to switch back and forth between computers located anywhere on
your network.
The AdderLink INFINITY units come in two types, Transmitters (Tx) which
connect to your computers, and Receivers (Rx) which connect to the screen,
speakers and USB devices. "Absolute flexibility is the cornerstone of this
new product" said Adrian Dickens - Managing Director of Adder. "You can
deploy a simple point to point extension model, or you can apply AdderLink
INFINITY to a sprawling enterprise scale network and deliver multicast audio
& video to an endless number of receivers. Furthermore, you can use an
endless number of transceivers to connect any user, any place to any computer
any place while maintaining total digital fluidity"
Digital Fluidity describes the transparent way in which the product
works. As a user, you can connect to any computer or channel (a mixture of
video, audio and USB from different locations) using the inbuilt EPG
(electronic program guide) much like a TV set top box. Once you have chosen a
computer or channel to work with, the experience is indistinguishable from
using a computer at your desk.

Multiple User KVM Switches allow multiple administrators to simultaneously access one or many of the attached servers or computers. Like Single user KVM Switches, Multiple User switches are available in:
- Analog / Coaxial,
- KVM over Cat5 and
- KVM over IP models.
There are also KVM Switches available for Multihead video computers and new technologies such as USB and DVI.
-
KVM over IP devices use a dedicated microcontroller and potentially
specialized video capture hardware to capture the video, keyboard, and
mouse signals, compress and convert them into packets, and send them
over an Ethernet
link to a remote console application that unpacks and reconstitutes the
dynamic graphical image. This KVM over IP subsystem is typically
connected to a system's standby power plane so that it's available
during the entire BIOS boot process. These devices allow multiple
computers to be controlled remotely across a wide area network, local area network using the TCP/IP protocols.
Cost-effective control of fewer than 50 servers and other IT devices in your Server Room, with access and control by one or more users, and support for remote access when you need it.
Maybe you're running a Server Room with 12, 20, 30 or more installed servers, two more on the way, and no space to spare. You need reliable server access and control, within a limited budget.

A single user KVM Switch provides for one single user access to multiple Servers or Computers.
A KVM switch (with KVM being an abbreviation for Keyboard, Video or Visual Display Unit, Mouse) is a hardware device that allows a user to control multiple computers from a single keyboard, video monitor and mouse.
Although multiple computers are connected to the KVM, typically a
smaller number of computers can be controlled at any given time. Modern
devices have also added the ability to share USB
devices and speakers with multiple computers. Some KVM switches can
also function in reverse - that is, a single PC can be connected to
multiple monitors, keyboards, and mice. While not as common as the
former, this configuration is useful when the operator wants to access
a single computer from two or more (usually close) locations.
A KVM switch is useful where there are multiple computers, but no need
for a dedicated keyboard, monitor and mouse for each one. They are
frequently used in data centers where multiple servers are placed in a single rack with a single keyboard, monitor and mouse. A KVM switch then allows data center personnel to connect to any server in the rack.
Generally available in:
- 2 Port
- 4 Port
- 8 Port
- 12 Port
- 16 Port
- 24 Port

Raritan offers intelligent power and energy management solutions which allow
Data Center operations managers, IT administrators and facilities managers to be
more efficient with energy consumption, make more informed capacity planning
decisions and improve operational efficiency. Our solutions are standards based
and seamlessly fit into your current infrastructure.
The table below compares the features of Raritan’s three types of rack power
distribution units (PDUs) – intelligent, switched and metered PDUs. As can be
seen from the table, intelligent PDUs offer the greatest functionality with an
emphasis on management and support for remote PDU-level and outlet-level
switching. Switched PDUs support remote switching but little else. Metered PDUs
support more management capabilities than switched PDUs but with only PDU-level
remote switching.
Raritan also offers Power IQ, an energy management system that simplifies
management of and information reporting from Raritan's intelligent PDUs and a
wide range of third party rack PDUs including APC.
